Former Secretary General of Higher Education, Odysseas Zoras, becomes the first rector of the non-state university of Keele Greece. Keele Greece will start operating in October 2025 with three schools.
Mr. Zoras takes over as rector of a non-state university in Greece, with a rich CV and many years of experience in academic matters.
He obtained a medical degree from the University of Rome La Sapienza with honors in 1980. In 1988 he obtained his doctorate and in 1989 he was elected lecturer in the field of surgery at the University of Crete.
After serving as director of the surgical department, Clinical Surgical Oncology, deputy president and president of the Medical School, in 2015 he was elected Rector of the University of Crete.
In 2019, he assumed the position of President of the Hellenic Open University, a position in which he remained until his appointment, in 2022, by decision of the Prime Minister, to the position of Secretary General of Higher Education.
Mr. Zoras, with his many years of experience, is expected to guide the newly established branch of the Public British University Keele, in our country
